1st Day of School, 2010

Here is a picture of Ashton the morning he started school. He is 5 yrs and 3 months old. He could have started school on his birthday (Nov 15th) but since the school year finished on December 18th, we decided he was better off starting after the holidays, when the new school year begun in February. Unfortunately, it was very overcast that morning so the lighting isn't very good.

Before school, Ashton couldn't resist the temptation of riding his bike to the letter box and back before he got in the car;

The boys together;

Ashton is in Room 4 with Mrs Davies and Hayden is in Room 1 with Miss Pierce. They are in the same block and their classrooms are opposite each other. Hayden says his class is cool because his teacher wears a head set with a microphone during mat time so that all the children can hear her talking 'very loud and clear'. He also says that when she assigns them work in class, everything she instructs them to do is put on a computer screen so that the children can see for themselves what they are suppose to be doing.

Ashton absolutely loved his first day. He told me that school rocks and he was talking non-stop about all the things that went on. Like all kids beginning school, Ashton looks so little amongst all the other kids and his back pack seems almost as big as he is! We just hope his current attitude that school rocks, lasts the next 15 years.

Hayden has loved taking responsiblity for Ashton and being protective of him. Hayden did not even think about being nervous or fearful of beginning a new year this year because he was so focused on looking after Ashton. On Ashton's first day he had a small accident in his pants so the teacher went to Hayden's class and asked Hayden to change Ashton in the boys toilets. Even the teachers have been contributing to making Hayden feel like a big, responsible kid and Hayden has been beaming from it.

Hayden has been ever so determined to protect his little brother. On the first day after school both boys told me how Ashton encountered a couple of bullies at lunch time, but Hayden stood up to them and protected him.

Ashton wanted a photo of him and Noah together;

Since school started Noah has had a hard time getting used to his brothers being back at school. He's been very clingy and whiny and repeatedly asks me from the back of the car; "How come I don't have a classroom, Mum?" I've felt so sad for him, but he is slowly getting used to the change and returning to his normal self. He loves getting out of the car and walking to school to pick the boys up from their classrooms.

Hayden (3yrs old) sees me get dressed in the morning and stares at my breasts with a confused look..."What thooooose be for???"

Hayden: "I don't want to finish my pizza, it's got blood all over it."

Hayden: "Ashton hit me in the heart."

Hayden learns the planets at Preschool: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Penus!

Hayden (shopping with me and whining): "My brain hurts forever because you haven't buyed me anything."
