HAYDEN'S BIG DAY

Today Hayden got his first car! It's been really exciting, and so cool to see Hayden smile so much. He's spent a long time relying on me to take him places, but now he doesn't have to anymore. He finally has his independence.

He is the proud owner of a 2005 Toyota Corolla. It has 123k's and is in excellent condition. It was previously owned by a 70 year old lady who didn't drive it far and took very good care of it.

We got the car through an Asian family from church who run their own car sales business (we also bought our family car from them). Many families in our ward and church buy cars through them as they are extremely trust worthy and are always determined to find exactly what you're looking for.

I notified the family on fb a few weeks ago that we were after a car around $5,000 and that we needed something suitable for a teenage boy (nothing that was a weird colour or strange looking shape). Usually they don't have many cars available in that low price range, so I knew they needed time to search for something. Sure enough they did, and found just what we were after.

Nana and Peter picked Hayden and I up at 10am and we went to the car lot to meet Ben (the owners son). Hayden took the car for a drive and loved it straight away. He was really comfortable driving it, and both of us could tell almost immediately the car already felt like it belonged to him.

Peter did a thorough check of the car (and I mean thorough!) and between the four of us we couldn't find any faults with it. Rust free, 4 brand new tires, extremely clean engine and oil, pedals in tip top shape, tinted windows and a very clean interior.

Next, Ben spent half an hour with us in his office working out the best insurance coverage to buy, and by 3pm this afternoon Hayden drove his very first car home. It was smooth sailing all the way.

So now we have a very happy 18 year old in the house who has already driven himself to the basketball court, and of course, Burger King this evening. Tomorrow morning he plans to drive to school which he has been looking forward to for a long time. Go Hayden!

Hayden: "I don't want to finish my pizza, it's got blood all over it."

Hayden: "Ashton hit me in the heart."

Hayden learns the planets at Preschool: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Penus!

Hayden (shopping with me and whining): "My brain hurts forever because you haven't buyed me anything."
