NOAH AT AGE 13

At 13 years of age, Noah is very handsome, tall and skinny.  He also has long fingers (just like his Uncle) and rather long feet, which cause him to be a bit clumsy at times!  Due to Noah's very slender body, Ashton loves to call his brother 'SKINNY' or 'BONES' for a joke.  Funny thing is, Noah's so use to his brothers nicknames that he always responds.  Noah has a very deep voice, and with that voice he usually talks at the speed of lightening.  Often times he speaks so fast we have no idea what he's said. Being the 3rd brother, he's learned over the years to talk fast, or he'd never get heard!  Noah now has a little moustache which takes him a couple of months to grow.  From time to time, Noah asks me to help him shave it off which I always enjoy doing.  I know that won't last long, as in another year he will see it as highly embarrassing to ask for my help.
Noah's favourite hairdresser is an English lady who goes by the name of 'Fish'.  Fish has been cutting his hair since he was a baby and Noah refuses to go to anyone else.  Noah is currently in his first year of High School at Westlake Boys.

CHURCH:  Noah really enjoys church and absolutely loves being a Deacon.  He is the Deacon leader and does a fantastic job.  The deacons group for this year consists of two 13 year olds and three 12 years old.  Noah sets a great example for the other boys and they all adore him.

An example of Noah's great leadership;  A few Sundays ago one of the boys was asked to be messenger in Sacrament.  This particular boy has anxiety over doing things for the first time, and was too nervous to do it.  Noah made no issue of it, told the boy he could try it when he was ready, and stood in as messenger for him.  In a leadership meeting, Tony and the boys father discussed how well Noah handled the situation.  The leaders and Bishop were impressed that Noah did not put pressure on the boy, or make him feel bad. This boy was Hyrum.  Noah's greatest and closest friends are Hyrum and his cousin Manaaki.  The boys have been friends since they were 3 years old.

Below:  A photo of the boys at 3 years old - Noah is the one holding the parcel with Hyrum and Manaaki sitting next to him.  Next pic is the boys at 12/13 years old:

I guess Hyrum (on the left) just wanted to eat his chicken without his photo being taken!  This photo was taken for Noah's 13 birthday in February.  The Deacons are such a close group of boys that they will organise a youth activity even if there isn't one scheduled.  They are always texting each other and planning a sleepover.  Last weekend they had a sleepover at Hyrum's house and spent the whole night huddled together on the trampoline in the cold and howling wind!  They slept for 2 hours and didn't come indoors until 6am.  They also spend nearly every weekend going for a bike ride together.

Below:  Scattered bikes are how we know the deacons are at our house!  And the neighbours always know because they make SOOO much noise when they get on the trampoline.

Since Noah's birthday is in February, he is the oldest in the group by 8 months.  He's also the only one so far who's had his first growth spurt.  And again, since Noah's birthday is at the beginning of the year, he is already in High School, but the others are still at Intermediate since their birthdays are after April.

Below:  Noah's great buddy Hyrum, celebrating his 13th birthday:

Noah is your typical teenage boy and loves to listen to music.  He often has his ear buds in when we go places, but lately I've been getting him to share his music in the car so Juliet and I can hear it too.  Noah enjoys saying, "Listen to this one mum, I think you'll like this one, okay how about this one!" Some of it's pretty cool!  And the rest of it....well, a little weird!  (I'm not sure why boys like rap music when you can't understand a single word that's being said!)

BASEBALL:
The season started in October 2019 and finished in April 2020.  (He was 12 when the season started and 13 when it finished).  For this season, Noah recruited 2 of his close classmates, Connor and Adam, from Northcross Intermediate.
His friend Connor also recruited his best mate Datson, so overall it was a super fun season as Noah had more kids his age on the team.  All 4 boys are only a couple of months apart, and they all have great baseball skills.
This season Noah was assigned to be the teams pitcher.  Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the boys in action as I was too busy learning to score the games, but the coach sent me this one below.
From left to right; Adam, Nookie, Datson, Noah and Connor.

During baseball prize giving this year Noah was awarded Most Valuable Player.  He certainly deserved it, especially since he had a big role to play as pitcher.  Noah did so much pitching that by the end of the season he had massive veins showing through his left arm.  But as a result, his speed and length of throwing got pretty impressive (so much so, that at church he recently threw a basketball from one end of the cultural hall to the other and actually made the basket)

The trophy has his name engraved on it.

A new season is about to start in two weeks and Noah and his friends are moving up to the U16's.  This season will be a big challenge playing with older boys, but I think our boys will do great and really progress with their skills.

Finally, a couple of pics of Noah and Juliet spending time together.  Although Noah is changing and growing fast, he still enjoys doing things with his little sister from time to time.

And a couple of pics of Noah and Ashton:

Ashton can never be trusted - he threw a bucket of water over Noah!
