Ashton's Sleepover Party was so much fun! I think Ashton had a huge smile on his face the entire party.
Here are a few pics for him to remember it.
His invitation;
A few of his presents. He got some great presents and he was really happy with all of them, especially the lego and the Smiggles Stationary which is such a big thing here.
He had all of his friends come except for two (Kim and Jacob were out of town for the weekend). Matthew, Joshua, Andrew, Brie, Anna, Sarah and Ashley. I let Noah's best friend Harry come too so that Noah would have someone his own age.
Ashton got such a sweet birthday card from Anna. I love how she writes
'who's a boy' twice!
All the kids arrived at 6.30pm. Uncle Travis arrived too with lots of pizza. The party dinner was pizza, hot chips and carrot sticks;
Then we played a few party games - the traditional kiwi game 'parce the parcel', pin the tail on the donkey and ring toss. Even Juliet ended up with the parcel (photo below). She was really happy to hold the parcel, but not keen on passing it on. She let out a nice little scream in protest!

Next came the ice-cream, jelly sundaes. I had planned all week to make Ashton a special cake, but I ran out of time. So I decided to skip the cake and do something a little different. We cut up bananas to go on top of the sundaes and each child put a candle in their sundae and got to blow out their own candle. Fortunately all the kids loved this idea including Ashton;

After everyone was on a sugar high from ice-cream we decided to get rid of all the energy by dancing. We turned the music up really loud and all the kids danced their hearts out until they were completely hot, sweaty and red!!! It was well after 10pm and the kids were still dancing. Every time I tried to turn the music off the kids begged for 'one' more song. The funniest thing was that Ashton refused to dance! And he had been dancing all week long before the party, in preparation for his big night. We think he got shy because of the girls. Noah wouldn't dance because Harry wouldn't dance and Hayden only likes to dance with his own friends or family.
We finally got everyone calmed down and in their sleeping bags at 11pm. Joshua didn't have any pj's and he refused to borrow some of Ashton's. So he wore his undies to bed! And I don't think they were his undies, they must have been his Dad's because they were wayyy big and baggy! He kept parading around in them and the girls kept covering their eyes and telling Joshua to get back in his sleeping bag. It was quite hilarious. Time went on and one by one the girls started to cry (as girls do). One cried because she couldn't sleep and it was too noisy, then another cried because she thought she might wet her sleeping bag. But the tears only lasted for a moment and the issues were easily resolved. Then the kids started confessing to each other (making pinky promises no one would reveal their secrets) who wets the bed, who snores really loud, who sleep walks, who has bad dreams etc. This was quite neat to observe because they really seem to bond together and support one another.
At 11.30pm I put on my mean voice and made the announcement that anyone who continued to talk would be put in another room. Within 5 minutes they were ALL asleep!!!
Ashton was the 1st one awake at 5am, but he didn't disturb anyone until they all started waking at 6.30. Tony made a big pot of hot chocolate for breakfast (which they really loved) and for breakfast they had rice bubbles and cornflakes. We did get asked why the breakfast was so healthy (lol) so we let them have a chocolate cupcake after their cereal to make it unhealthy!
Our sleepover birthday party was a great success for the 3rd time! We'll definitely be doing it again next year :)
