Ashton Singing

We recently had our Primary Sacrament Presentation. It went really well for all the children and there was a lovely spirit during the programme. Hayden gave a nice talk on renewing his baptismal covenants and Noah read a scripture. Noah's scripture was; "If ye do keep His commandments, He doth bless you and prosper you." Noah found the words 'ye' and 'doth' really funny! As Noah is so shy and quiet in primary, I think the primary president wasn't sure if he was able to say the scripture, but it was a piece of cake for him (he had it memorized instantly) and he would have been more than capable of giving a full talk. But nevertheless, this was a good start for him, being his first primary presentation. Ashton had a scripture, talk and a song to sing with one other boy and two little girls. Ashton struggles to read because of his dyslexia, so we had to practice his talk over, and over, and over again. The practice paid off - he did fantastic on the day of the presentation and was able to read his entire talk completely unassisted. No one in the congregation would've had any idea how much he had to practice. He read with great volume, spoke very clearly and didn't read too fast. He had lots of pauses here and there because he couldn't instantly recall some of the words. It takes a few seconds for each word to register in his brain, mostly because he sees a lot of words backwards i.e., instead of seeing the word 'was' on paper he sees 'saw' but he read it BEAUTIFULLY. We were so proud of his accomplishment! Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to upload a video of his talk, however, here is a video of him singing the first verse to "I'm trying to be like Jesus."
