Ashton Turns 8 Years Old

Oh my goodness, I am actually writing on the correct day of an event in our house! But I'm making it quick so I can get to bed! Today is Ashton's 8th birthday. As the kids always do, he took a bag of fruit bursts (lollies) to school to hand out to each child in his class. When Ashton arrived at school and went into his class he said all the kids were hiding and then they surprised him by singing happy birthday. In the morning they sang happy birthday to him in English and in the afternoon they sung to him again, but in Maori. After school we went to Nana's to have afternoon tea and open a couple of pressies. Ashton got a $40 gift certificate from Nana to the Smiggles Stationary Store and Uncle Travis gave him a really cool Bart Simpson card with $20 inside. After a quick tea of salad and little mince pies, Ashton opened Grandma's card and received his yearly savings bond for College and another $20. Then he opened his present from me and Tony which was a Stars Wars figure (Anakin Skywalker) and a necklace (which Ashton specifically requested). Last week Ashton found a nice boys necklace in the school playground so he decided to claim it and wear it! He wore it for nearly a whole week before a boy he knew came up to him and said, "Hey, that's my necklace, can I have it back!" That's when Ashton decided he wanted a necklace for his birthday. So today was a fairly mellow day for Ashton, but things will be very different on Saturday evening. He relentlessly begged me for a SLEEPOVER party for 8 of his friends and I eventually agreed. He is soooo excited. He's invited his 5 favourite 'girl' friends and 3 boys, and all the girls mum's have said their daughters could spend the night, hooray!! We're all looking forward to it, it's going to be so much fun! Here is Ashton this evening wearing his new necklace.

Hayden (3yrs old) sees me get dressed in the morning and stares at my breasts with a confused look..."What thooooose be for???"

Hayden: "I don't want to finish my pizza, it's got blood all over it."

Hayden: "Ashton hit me in the heart."

Hayden learns the planets at Preschool: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Penus!

Hayden (shopping with me and whining): "My brain hurts forever because you haven't buyed me anything."
