Pinehill School Cultural Day

This post was meant to be done nearly 2 months ago...but better late than never!

At the beginning of December Hayden's school had a cultural day. As there are over 30 different cultures represented at Pinehill all the children had to come dressed for a day in an outfit that represented their country. It was really exciting to see so many different costumes and a great experience for everyone to be reminded that the world is made up of many different people.

One of the reasons we love Pinehill School so much is because of it's diversity; The Principal is French, many of the teachers are English and South African, many of the students are from Korea and China, many are Irish and from different parts of Europe, NZ and Australia...AND there is the one and only American (well, half American) 'Hayden Nizetich!'

Hayden went dressed as an American Football Player (fortunately we had a guy in our ward who plays American Football and he was able to get this uniform for Hayden to wear);

Each child also had to bring to school some sort of 'dish' from their culture that they could share with the rest of the class. Hayden proudly holds the Pumpkin Pie that Tony made;

The children paraded through the school hall, class by class, to show off their costumes;

One of the teachers dressed as a typical 'kiwi bloke' or 'sheep farmer' in short shorts, tank top & wollie hat;

A variety of 'culture food' by the kids in Hayden's class;

Hayden (3yrs old) sees me get dressed in the morning and stares at my breasts with a confused look..."What thooooose be for???"

Hayden: "I don't want to finish my pizza, it's got blood all over it."

Hayden: "Ashton hit me in the heart."

Hayden learns the planets at Preschool: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Penus!

Hayden (shopping with me and whining): "My brain hurts forever because you haven't buyed me anything."
