Grandpa with Noah on the Ferry. The title of this post should also be 'Grandpa Comes to NZ'. Tony's Dad is visiting us for the first time since we left Los Angeles. It's been an exciting time for the boys and Tony to reunite with Grandpa/Dad after two years. We have been having fun showing Grandpa around and taking him places. One of the first places on our list of places to go was Rangitoto Island, Auckland city's landmark. We took a 15 minute Ferry ride to the Island and then hiked to the top. It was a long, steep and rocky climb that took us an hour and a half. Noah had to be carried most of the way and sometimes Ashton too, so between the three of us we kept trading off 'boys' and backpacks.
Tony with Ashton and Hayden on the dock at Rangitoto. About to begin the climb...

Ashton resting on Grandpa's head!A nice shot of Grandpa taken by Hayden.
All of us at Rangitoto summit. We enjoyed the views, took photo's and had a nice picnic of all Grandpa's favourite foods: salami, prosciutto, mortadella, and a variety of cheese and french bread (we forgot the olives!)It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day which gave us some very spectacular views from the top. We got very lucky with the weather since it had been windy and raining days before.

Me and Noah getting ready to make our way back down the volcano.
Grandpa and Ashton heading down Rangitoto. We had to rush down so we didn't miss the ferry. Tony carried Hayden on his shoulders (Hayden got a sore hip from walking so much), Grandpa carried Ashton and I had Noah. Luckily, people were just getting on the ferry as we got to the bottom, otherwise we would've had to wait another 3 hrs for the next one. We were all hot and sweaty from our speed walk down!
Grandpa, Ashton and Noah enjoy a much-deserved ice-cream at Devonport Wharf after the climb.
