We had lots of fun with Grandpa coming to stay. He stayed for two weeks and enjoyed reconnecting with Hayden and Ashton and meeting Noah for the first time. He learned over the two weeks he was here that he has three VERY NOISY AND WILD grandsons who love to eat, eat and EAT. He nicknamed the three of them - particularly Noah - ‘little garbage disposals’. Our house was so noisy one morning with Ashton and Noah squealing and laughing (because Tony and Drago were swinging them) that we didn't even hear Grandma calling on the phone!
While Grandpa was here he did lots of things... he trimmed our trees, prunned our rose bushes, fixed things around the house, ate fish 'n chips (three times), tried some NZ wine, had a meat pie, ate lots of kiwi fruit and tried pavlova for the first time. He cooked snapper and squid, baked and BBQ'd lamp ribs, went on a bush walk, stopped at a honey factory in the county (because he makes his own honey too), changed lots of smelly poohey nappies (diapers) and went to the fish market. He tried 'toasties' with cheese and pineapple, went to dinner at a Brazilain restaurant, tried cream donuts, cooked schnitzel, bought lots of pastries from the bakery, made soup with lamb in it, saw lots and lots of cows and sheep and cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast. He went to the BMX track and got Hayden to start from the top (for the first time), got Noah out of bed nearly every morning, went to church with us, helped at Ashton's birthday party, picked Hayden up from school, bought Hayden Star Wars Lego and movies, swung Noah and Ashton over and over again and taught Noah lots of new words. Oh, and also climbed Rangitoto, went to Bethells beach and took a three day trip to Rotorua and Taupo. Grandpa even DROVE IN THE COUNTRY on the left hand side of the road with the steering wheel on the right! He did good too, although Hayden was nervous and says he was afraid he was going to die! We trusted Grandpa in our car out in the country, but he's not ready for roundabouts yet!!
Grandpa stayed in our guest room and Hayden and Ashton took turns each night sleeping with him. While Grandpa was with us we awarded him the trophy for being so helpful in the kitchen – for making us soup after church and cleaning up the dishes from Ashton’s birthday party. The following Sunday I got the trophy for being 'good' about the kitchen and not worrying about any messes.
We learned that Grandpa loves our bakeries here and really enjoys cream donuts, chocolate eclairs, custard slices....anything with cream and custard.
It was a busy, fun, crazy, exciting, noisy, two weeks, we just wish Grandma had been with us to join in the fun. We missed her, but we're fortunate that she's already been to stay with us twice.
For some strange reason Ashton is still confused about who is Grandma and who is Grandpa. He insisted on calling Grandpa 'Grandma' the whole time he was here.
Here are lots of photo's of the things we got up to and the things we saw:
Grandpa, Tony and Hayden go on the Hukafalls Jet Ride at Huka Falls in Taupo.
Grandpa, Hayden and Tony in the back row on the left.
Hayden and Ashton at Bethells beach having fun throwing sand at each other.
Grandpa, Daddy and boys at Bethells beach.

All the boys having fun in the water.
Tony, Ashton and Hayden trying to slide down the sand dune on cardboard boxes. The boxes wouldn't slide, but they came in handy for standing on... the sand was so hot it was burning our feet.
The beautiful Huka Falls in Taupo.

Grandpa and Hayden in Rotorua going to the top of the mountain to ride the luge.
Father and Son at the luge outlook.
Me and Ashton and Grandpa and Noah coming down the mountain on the luge. The Nizetich clan sitting on a bench outside the Rotorua Museum.

Ashton uses the 'out house' in the country on our way to Hamilton.

The end!
