Hayden's Dream Comes True

This weekend the BMX track finally opened for the summer. Hayden has been DYING for his chance to join the club and his first time to be a member of it will be on Tuesday.
The club is every Tuesday night from 5:30 - 8:30. Families have to stay while training is going on just in case of crashes, broken bones and boys flipping over bar handels!! The club presidency puts on a BBQ every Tuesday, or you can bring a picnic.

Although you can't really tell from the photo the start of the track is really steep (so the riders can get enough speed to go over the bumps). Hayden is not confident enough yet to start from the top so he starts halfway.
Hayden is not in any of these photo's as all these kids are experienced riders and have been in the club before. The youngest rider is 4 1/2 years old. He's amazing to watch and it's hard to believe that such a little kid can ride a bike so fast.
Hayden is VERY keen to get good and to be a fast rider. Every Tuesday night he will get training in his age group and then afterwards the kids will have races.
At the moment Hayden is still getting use to riding an actual BMX bike as the feel of them is very different to a normal bike (they have really skinny frames and they're super light weight to enable the boys to twist and turn their bikes up in the air). For the time being we are renting one from the club until Hayden gets use to it. No one is allowed on the track without a full-face helmet and full protective gear. No sport seems to be cheap, but a helmet alone is $160!
We have already been warned that because the boys learn to go so fast and high, it's not a matter of 'IF' they break something, it's WHEN they break something. Lets see how long Hayden can go before that happens!!
Naturally we have been a bit concerned about Hayden riding after just recently breaking his arm, but the Doctor confirmed in his last x-ray that his arm has healed exceptionally well and his bones look perfect. So I figure it's time to move on. After all, Hayden has been waiting patiently all winter for his chance to ride. And if he's going to break it again (or anything else)...well, there's not much we can do about it as that's just life...and part of being a boy who takes risks. After all, he could go to school tomorrow, trip over someones foot again and break his ankle (who knows) so I don't see much point in stopping Hayden from doing sports for 6 months just to make his arm stronger! I guess I'm writing this because Tony and I have been having a big debate over it all week.

Photo's of Hayden riding next week!
The track really is as green as the photo's show - bear in mind we've had months and months of some heavy continuous rain.
