Bussssy!

I have been trying to find the time to write this post for the past two weeks.
Life has been such a whirlwind lately with end of year Christmas party's, activities and other things going on.

A little update on Juliet;
For the past month I have been trying to find the time to make Juliet some veggies for her dinners. I am pleased with myself I finally got this lovely big mixture of broccoli, pumpkin, carrot, kumara, potato and red capsicum baked and pureed yesterday. Half of it is already in the freezer:

Juliet officially loves her food. When she sees me getting it ready she starts making lots of noises and watches me closely. She knows how to 'open wide' with every mouthful coming her way! For breakfast she has plain rice cereal (nothing added - which she loves because she knows no different) and for lunch she has mashed avocado and occasionally kiwifruit, banana's or strawberries as a little treat.

My mum recently read a study that your baby should only eat vegetables and meat for the first few months. The study says that if you avoid introducing sweet foods such as banana and apples til later then the child will have a love of veggies and meat for the rest of their lives. When they eventually develop a liking for sweet foods their palates will be well use to the flavours and textures of veggies.
So for the time being, I am going along with this study and sticking to the vegetables as much as possible.

Juliet is now 8 months old. A few things she can do:

Sit up like a pro (although occasionally she leans forward too far and can't get her face off the carpet!) She is desperately trying to figure out how to crawl. She leans forward onto her hands, but isn't sure what to do with her legs. The other day while sitting in her cot she pulled herself up onto her feet by holding onto the bars. The boys came shouting down the stairs with excitement and were laughing hysterically at her major accomplishment.

Squeal! She can be very good at this when she's feeling in the mood for it. She makes some very high pitched sounds to show us how happy she is. This is a new experience for us as I don't recall any of the boys doing this.

Shake her head from side to side. We still haven't figured out why she does it. It's only occasionally, but very funny to watch.

Say 'ma ma ma ma' and 'ba ba ba ba ba.'

Her personality is really starting to show now. Sometimes when people say hi to her she sheepishly burries her face into my chest, yet still makes eye contact with the person and gives them a shy smile.

Whenever I stop the car she turns her head and tries to look at me in the drivers seat. She smiles at me as if to say "Where are we and what are we doing?"

And here is her very first tooth as she chews on something that she shouldn't - it's proof that she lives in a house full of boys!

Hayden: "Ashton hit me in the heart."

Hayden learns the planets at Preschool: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Penus!

Hayden (shopping with me and whining): "My brain hurts forever because you haven't buyed me anything."
