Good Friends

When school started this year we prayed that Ashton would find a new best friend.

His friend last year was a boy named Tamihana. Tamihana wasn't a good influence on Ashton and he came from quite a troubled home. Although Tamihana was actually a sweet boy, he was desperate for love and attention from his parents which he never seemed to get and he was terribly bullied by his sister which had gone way past the point of giving Tamihana some serious issues (anger, frustration, rebellious behaviour). Our hearts really went out to Tamihana and we wanted to help him, but at the same time we didn't want to encourage the friendship too much because Ashton was getting pulled into 'Choosing the Wrong!' I requested that the boys would be in different classes this year.

Our prayers were answered as Ashton found a new best friend named Vladimir. He is half Russian and half Chinese. He's loud just like Ashton and a real talker, but a really lovely boy and very good too! The boys love to ride their scooters together and build lego. Every Friday after school Ashton walks home with Vladimir and his mum to have a sleepover. His mum, Maria, is a super good mum. She takes the boys to the movies, for walks and to the beach. This Easter holidays they spent all day at Browns Bay Beach;
